The idea for Chewbeads began in 2009 shortly after the birth of their creator’s son. Like most babies, Benjamin loved to put everything in his mouth and necklaces were a favorite. She wanted to create safe soft, non toxic jewelry for herself, with which he could play while she was holding him on her hip.
The beads are made with FDA approved silicon (similar to pacifiers and nipples), which is soft on babies’ gums and emerging teeth. They can be easily cleaned with dish soap and water. They do not have BPA, PVC, phthalates, heavy metals, cadmium, or lead! In addition, they are strong enough to stand up to tugs and bites, and have a breakaway clasp for added safety.
